Our Story

A grandfather, granddaughter story

We are a family-owned business that has been supplying products to small drugstores for more than 40-years. In 2004, my daughter was diagnosed with Autism. From the outside, it would he hard to imagine how this can change everything. This is where our journey began as a family, and eventually as a business.

My dad was my biggest supporter and my daughter’s number one fan.  After the diagnosis, he watched me struggle to figure out what treatments were appropriate and necessary for my daughter (ABA, VBA, OT, Speech Therapy, Music, Biomedical, a special diet?...) at the same time I faced the daily challenge of meeting my daughter’s basic needs.

He often felt helpless as I searched the internet and went to support group meetings and conferences—gathering information and piecing together tidbits of advice.   When I put my daughter’s first ABA home program into place, he saw my shopping lists and the hours I spent looking for items as if I were on a treasure hunt (easels with flannel, flashcards, a beading caterpillar with a wooden needle, gluten free bubbles…), and said he had an idea how he could help.

The Autism Community Store was founded as a resource for the parents, therapists and dedicated professionals who will go to the ends of the earth to help our kids. Our goal is to offer a variety of  products that meet the unique needs of our community, all in one place.

Sadly, my dad passed away in 2009.  I know he would be pleased and proud to see that the store lives on, now run by parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Each day, we strive to serve the Autism Community by offering the best possible prices on the supplies you need, fast shipping and supportive customer service. For all those people who will go to the ends of the Earth for our kids… hopefully, now you won’t have to.
